Job Description

Multimedia Technologies and Strategic Communication

Central Connecticut State University’s Communication Department invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2014. Tenure track faculty are expected to engage in research, teaching and service activities, and be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. We seek an individual with expertise in multimedia technologies, grounding such expertise in the theoretical foundations of organizational communication and/or public relations, demonstrating the bridging of theory and praxis through these technologies. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of multimedia technologies and strategic communication (organizational communication and/or public relations) and contribute actively and effectively to student growth, service, and scholarship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Communication or a related discipline (A.B.D. will be considered; completion is required February 1, 2015.)
  • Commitment to serving culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse communities
  • Professional experience in multimedia technologies
  • Evidence of research in the area of multimedia technologies, organizational communication, and/or public relations
  • Publication activity
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College teaching experience
  • Professional experience in organizational communication and/or public relations
  • Experience with community-based programs/projects consistent with the university’s focus on community engagement

The Community: CCSU is located in New Britain, a city of some 70,000, within a 10-minute drive to the state capital in Hartford. New Britain is home to the nationally recognized New Britain Museum of American Arts and offers a range of cultural opportunities, including the New Britain Symphony Orchestra, the New Britain Rock Cats (Double A professional baseball), two theatres, and an extensive park system. The University is approximately two hours (by car) from both Boston and New York City.
